nihnadnidcd_logosLaureate recently received a $1.6 million Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) to develop research-based vocabulary intervention software for young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other communication disorders.

The results of a study which used Laureate’s LanguageLinks software were recently published in the Journal of Deaf Studies and Deaf Education. Twenty-six children aged 5-12 who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and use American Sign Language worked with LanguageLinks every school day for nine weeks. The results indicated that LanguageLinks significantly improved both reading comprehension and expressive syntax. To view the abstract, click here.
