What is Laureate’s Linguistic Hierarchy?

steps_silLaureate’s Linguistic Hierarchy is designed to help you choose appropriate software for your student or child. The hierarchy is a useful guide which describes seven distinct stages of language development that take place before a typically developing child reaches age 5. It also outlines educational goals for each stage and provides a list of our software programs that match these goals. Many of you have found our Linguistic Hierarchy extremely useful and have relied on it as a road map for your students.

The Linguistic Hierarchy includes an easy to use Language Stage checklist. All you need to do is answer a few basic questions to determine the stage of language development of the child you have in mind. If you haven’t already done so, you should take a look at it - it’s really is easy to use.
